Rising Sun Clubs · Driver Comparison · PING · Australia

PING's MAX driver lineage has become the default choice for golfers who value forgiveness over everything else. Three generations sit close together on the used market right now: the G425 MAX, the ultra-high-MOI G430 MAX 10K, and PING's newest G440 generation. All three share the same forgiving philosophy, but they're not interchangeable. Here's how to pick.

What Actually Changed Between Generations?

The G425 MAX (2021) established the formula: a heavier tungsten weight positioned low and back in the head for high stability, paired with Spinsistency face technology that keeps spin rate more consistent across the face, so mis-hits low or high on the face don't balloon or knuckle as badly. It remains one of the most respected forgiving drivers PING has made, and the used-market price reflects its age rather than any real performance gap.

The G430 MAX 10K (2024) took the same philosophy further. The "10K" name refers to a MOI rating north of 10,000 g·cm², achieved with additional rear tungsten weighting, making it the single most stable, hardest-to-twist driver head PING has ever released. If your miss costs you real distance and direction on off-centre strikes, this is the head built specifically to minimise that.

The G440 generation is PING's newest driver line, continuing to refine face flexibility and aerodynamics for more ball speed while holding onto the forgiving DNA the MAX name is known for. It's the smallest year-over-year jump of the three, but it's the most current technology available.
